Phil Elverum
PermalinkPhil is disappointed in me.

I managed to find the presale code to purchase a ticket for Mount Eerie, scheduled for Sept. 11, 2026, here in Seattle. Mount Eerie, of course, is Phil Elverum, who you may also have known as Microphones. Much as Bob does with Michael Bolton, I celebrate his entire catalog, and the Glow pt. 2 might be my favorite album of all time.
When I draw people, I try not to spend too much time and I don't try to recreate photographs. I look at photos as reference, like what kinds of clothes do they wear, and what's the angle of their brow, etc. For some reason, when working on his mouth, I fixated on one photo that looked like a serious scowl. He smiles a lot. Sorry, Phil. But I decided you were just unhappy that I made you stand still for this drawing. And sorry if I made you look a little like Henry Rollins.
This was drawn in a few minutes on a comic book backing board with a Tombow Fudenosuke WS-BH brush pen, a Pigma BB to fill blacks, and a Copic N4 for gray tones.
